Resort Description

Your holiday adventure begins at Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa, situated in the South Ari Atoll and following the ‘One Island, One Resort’ concept the Maldives is famous for. This island is 900 meters long by 250 meters wide, about 55 acres and surrounded by a spectacular house reef a short swim away from the expansive sandy beach, the quintessential dive and snorkeling island adventure. The seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport is a scenic 25-minute flight.

ACCOMMODATION

The resort’s accommodation options provide the perfect space to relax after days filled with ocean adventures. Choose from the 194 rooms available, each with their own natural island style, including 30 Jacuzzi Water Villas, 30 Jacuzzi Beach Villas, 58 Adjoining Beach Villas, 53 Standalone Beach Villas and 23 Garden Rooms. All feature tropical décor, a king size bed, wood or tile floors, private porch with furniture, air-conditioning, overhead ceiling fan, sitting area, stocked minibar with refrigerator, complimentary tea or coffee or 2x house bottled water, IDD telephone, 32-inch flat screen cable TV, free Wi-Fi, personal safe, partially open-air bathroom with double sinks, a rain shower, bath accessories, hair dryer, nightly turndown service, bathrobe, complimentary use of sunbeds and beach towels at the pool and beach. Jacuzzi Water Villas

(85 sqm) effortlessly extend one’s love for the ocean to one’s living space and escape to these over-water villas. Jacuzzi Beach Villas

(65 sqm) experience beach living with the ocean at your doorstep and views of the turquoise lagoon. Enjoy these spacious villas between your days on or under the ocean, or on the beach. Relax after your island adventures with a soak in the Jacuzzi for two “under the stars”.

Standalone Beach Villas

(55 sqm) created for comfort and minimal fuss, these private detached beach villas offer a space to recharge after sun-filled days packed with snorkeling, diving and water sports. Located on the beach, a few meters from the ocean’s edge offering picturesque views to create life long memories.

Adjoining Beach Villas

(55 sqm) created for comfort and minimal fuss, these double stand beach villas are adjoined to each other without interleading doors or passages. They offer a space to recharge after sun-filled days packed with snorkeling, diving and water sports. Located on the beach, a few meters from the ocean’s edge offering picturesque views to create life long memories.

Garden Rooms

(55sqm) hidden in the wild island gardens of the resort, there are three blocks of Garden Rooms, each consisting of four to five rooms separated by a privacy screen. These villas offer the comfort and necessities for an escape filled with experiential memories.

RESTAURANTS & BARS

Guests can break up their adventure-filled days and take a moment to enjoy a bite to eat and delicious drinks to quench their thirst at one of the restaurants and bars on the island. Two buffet style restaurants offer guests themed dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner in an authentic Maldivian atmosphere with thatched roofs, sand floors and open spaces. Funama caters for guests in the Garden Room and Beach Villas, while Ahima caters for adults in the Jacuzzi Beach Villas and Jacuzzi Water Villas. Complimentary water is provided during meal times for all guests.

Escape form the ordinary and try the two seated à la carte restaurants on the island. Enjoy the over-water ambiance of Asian Wok, this restaurant specializes in Asian cuisine and teppanyaki, yum! Hot Rock restaurant features unique culinary flare with a distinct gastronomic journey, guests can savor seafood, steak and chicken prepared by the chef and cooked by the guest to their preference on a heated magma rock, sounds like a cooking adventure.

Guests can also indulge in three additional à la carte options; with a snack menu at the bars and pools, room service and a selection of al fresco dinners on the beach.

A range of bars complement guests’ beach-filled days with refreshing drinks. Bonthi Bar with over-water deck for evening celebrations, offering satellite TV coverage of international sporting events and a disco night, while Boashi Bar offers sultry drinks beside the pool. Asian Wok Bar offers great alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. The adults’ only Sunset Bar offers the best sundowners, indulge in a drink on the deck overlooking the infinity pool and ocean, some of the best sunset views on the island.

DUNIYE SPA

An over water tropical spa experience for women and men, focused on wholeness, simplicity, purity and quality. The therapist’s healing energy combines with Asian massage techniques alongside chemical free, pure organic products to create a natural, holistic, personalized approach to caring for each guest’s health, beauty and well-being.

Sports and Recreation

Wander the island in search of adventure or dip into the ocean and discover the beauty that the Maldives is famous for with 1.5 km of beautiful white sandy beach, a magnificent lagoon and excellent snorkeling on the house reef, which can be found on both sides of the island. Relax by one of the two sparkling clear freshwater swimming pools, the Boashi Pool is for all guests and has a crystalline children’s wading pool located near the eastern end of the resort and surrounded by our tropical garden, while the adults’ only Sunset Pool offers a more relaxing atmosphere overlooking the beach and turquoise ocean. A lighted tennis court, putting green, volleyball, badminton, pétanque, football grounds and fitness center; fishing excursions including morning and afternoon trips. The resort also offers a children’s playground by the Boashi Pool and a children’s Games Room next to the Gift Shop.

The Games Room

Located near Bonthi Bar for a bit of friendly rivalry in air-conditioned bliss with a game of billiards, snooker, foosball table and a range of board games or outdoor table tennis.

Euro-Divers Scuba Centre

Featuring guided diving and snorkeling boat trips, equipment and accessory sales, rentals, repairs and a complete PADI instructional program.

Euro-Divers Water Sports Centre For rental and instruction lessons, including catamarans, kayaks, windsurfers, SUP boarding, waterskiing, wakeboard, fun tube rides, jet ski and a glass bottom boat. Location by the Sunset Bar for adults only.

The Manta Trust Marine Biology Center

The Maldives has the world’s largest known population of reef manta rays. The Manta Trust is a well-known, UK based, independent non-profit organization, whose mission is to advance conservation of manta rays and their habitat through science, research, raising awareness and influencing conservation by providing education. Guests can take part in workshops and trips run by Vilamendhoo’s resident marine biologist. Our team is here to share our passion for and knowledge of the marine environment with you and hope that your understanding will help conserve the natural beauty of the coral reefs.
